The Laboratory for Smart and Bioinspired Materials appeared at the 11th National Biomedical Engineering Competition

Recently, the 11th National College Student Biomedical Engineering Innovation Design Competition was successfully held in Sanya, Hainan. Hosted by the Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering and organized by Hainan University (School of Biomedical Engineering and Sanya Research Institute) and the Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City Administration, the competition

Under the guidance of supervisor Yanfeng Luo, the Laboratory for Smart and Bioinspired Materials of Chongqing University organized a graduate team to participate in the self-selected project track of the graduate group of this competition, exhibiting two research results:

The first work, led by student Hongyu Qian was entitled "Biomimetic Self-Reinforcing Osteoinductive Absorbable Polyurethane Membrane and Its Application in Guided Bone Regeneration" (work ID: 2077). Focusing on guided bone regeneration, a common clinical need in orthopedics, this project designed and prepared an absorbable polyurethane membrane material with both osteoinductive activity and self-reinforcing mechanical properties, providing a new material solution for bone defect repair.

The second work, led by student Xiwan Wang was entitled "Body-Temperature-Responsive Smart Degradable Anti-Adhesion Film and Its Application After Minimally Invasive Surgery" (work ID: 1717). Targeting the common complication of tissue adhesion after minimally invasive surgery, this project developed an anti-adhesion film material with self-unfolding triggered by body temperature and degradable properties, balancing intraoperative ease of operation and postoperative biosafety.

After the preliminary review and the intense on-site final competition, both works stood out from the many entries across the country and won the national third prize. The review experts gave positive evaluations of the material design ideas, innovativeness, and clinical application prospects of the two results.

The laboratory stated that this competition was not only a concentrated test of the team's phased research results, but also a valuable opportunity to further refine research directions and expand academic exchange. In the future, the laboratory will continue to delve into the fields of biomimetic materials and smart responsive materials
